Nitrogen Solubility and Gas Nitriding Kinetics in Fe–Cr–Mo–C Alloy Melts under Pressurized Atmosphere

The precise control of nitrogen content in high martensitic stainless steel is the guarantee its excellent performance, and a crucial issue for manufacturing process using pressurized gas nitriding. In this paper, effects pressure, temperature alloy composition on solubility nitriding kinetics Fe–Cr–Mo–C melts were investigated. order to correct deviation from Sieverts’ law under first- second-order interaction parameters itself obtained; accordingly, model pressure was established well verified. decreased with increasing C content, increased Cr Mo contents. mass transfer liquid phase rate-determining step different pressures. apparent coefficient approximately 0.0218 0.0230 cm·s−1, showed weak dependence pressure. significantly increase electromagnetic stirring, rarely affected by Cr, C. Considering influence change rate pressurization stage, novel kinetic exhibited effectiveness practice.
